The UNLV chapter of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society in
partnership with the Clark County School District (CCSD), is engaged in a
project to promote literacy. “Literacy in Action” will videotape 15 Las Vegas
individuals reading stories for second and third graders. The stories will
relate to the readers’ lives, such as a firefighter reading a story about a
firefighter, an artist reading a story about art, etc. The goal is to show
children that reading relates to all that they will do in life.
